The  Maverick  Players Are Moooving!

**************************
MAVERICK PLAYERS ARE NO LONGER AT MIDLAND PARK MALL.

Our lease at Midland Park Mall has been terminated as the Mall owners make way for a new permanent tenant in our space.  Our volunteers are in the process of moving our equipment, props, costumes and stuff to storage.  While we will miss our scruffy little homemade theater with its shabby chic lobby, we will not miss the air conditioner or the plumbing, both of which expired on our last performance!

THE MAVERICKS ARE NOT DEAD.

This group is more than a stage.  We intend to carry on.  We hope you stay with us.  All 2010 memberships will be honored, even into 2011.  We promised you a season, and it will happen somewhere, sometime.

“I DO! I DO!” HAS BEEN POSTPONED.

We were scheduled to open “I DO! I DO!” in late May.  The stress and strain of our forced move made producing this musical at a new, undetermined location impossible.  Rescheduling the production for a later date proved tricky, too.  We are reluctantly postponing it until 2011.

SO, WHAT’S NEXT?

We don’t really know.  We are planning a production somewhere this summer.  We will let you know what, when and where.  We first have to complete the move, and then start looking for a theater space for the long-term.  On that last point, we are seriously considering the Ritz Theater in downtown Midland.

THE RITZ PROJECT

Midlanders Martha and Joe Dunham are working to renovate the old Ritz Theater into a not-for-profit performing arts center.  They have asked the Maverick Players to be their theatrical tenant.  Their plans are quite exciting, but the job will take donated money to materialize.  You will be hearing more about this, but if you want more information right away, you can call Martha Dunham at 664-9383.
